Plant a token

How Grove works

Everything about planting, trading, fees and safety, in plain words.

Planting a token

What does planting a token cost?
Only gas. You don't deposit any ETH. Grove mints a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens and puts all of it into a Uniswap v4 pool paired with ETH, so the token can be traded the moment the transaction confirms.
Does the creator get free tokens?
No. Creators get 0% of the supply. If you want to hold your own token, you buy it from the pool at the same price as everyone else.
Can I buy my own token when I plant it?
Yes. Enter an amount under “Buy at launch” and Grove plants the token and buys it for you in the same transaction, so nobody can buy before you. The launch limit below applies to you too, so a launch buy can be at most 2% of the supply.
What is launch protection?
For the first 5 minutes after a token is planted, no wallet can hold more than 2% of the supply. Bots can't scoop up the supply in the first block, and selling is never blocked.
Can I plant a token for someone else's X handle?
Yes. Tick “Plant for someone else's X handle” and the creator share of fees is held for that handle. Its owner signs in with X on the Claim page to link a wallet and collect it.

Liquidity and fees

Why can't the liquidity be pulled?
The pool's liquidity position is held by Grove's locker contract, which has no function that removes liquidity. Not the creator, not Grove, nobody can withdraw it. The ETH buyers put in stays in the pool.
Where does the 1% trading fee go?
Every buy and sell pays 1%. 70% goes to the creator (or the X handle the token was planted for), 20% to holders, and 10% to the Grove treasury. The split is written into the contract and can't be changed.
How do holder rewards work?
The ETH side of the holder share is spread across every holder by balance. You can claim it from your Portfolio once you've held the token for 7 days. The token side of the holder share is burned, which slowly reduces the supply.
How do creators get paid?
Fees build up in the pool as people trade. On your Portfolio, press “Collect fees” to split them, then “Withdraw” to send your share to your wallet. Anyone can collect, so fees are never stuck.

Reading a token

What is the Safety Score?
A score out of 100 built from five checks read from the chain: liquidity locked (40 points), contract can't be changed (20), creator holds 5% or less (20), the 10 largest wallets hold 30% or less (15), and trading for more than a day (5). It helps you judge risk quickly, but it isn't a guarantee.
What are growth levels?
Tokens grow from Seed to Sprout to Tree to Forest. A token moves up only when it clears both its holder count and market cap target: Sprout needs 100 holders and a 10 ETH market cap; Tree needs 1,000 holders and a 100 ETH market cap; Forest needs 10,000 holders and a 1,000 ETH market cap.
Why is the market cap in dollars and the price in ETH?
Market caps are easier to compare in dollars, so we convert them at the current ETH price. Token prices are tiny fractions of an ETH, so they're shown in ETH, which is what you actually pay.

Risks

Is Grove safe?
Grove's contracts are verified and public, but they have not been audited yet. Locked liquidity stops the classic rug pull, but a token's price can still drop to almost nothing if people sell. Anyone can plant a token and Grove doesn't vet them. Only use money you can afford to lose.
